A Change Of Pace

There have been several days recently when I had writer’s block. It a terrible feeling to think that you have written your last song, and it’s over for you. You’re a ‘has been’…yesterday’s news. That’s when I decided I needed to get out of this rut I was in and go for a walk…and a drive…and, finally, to a casino. I just needed a change of scenery. And that did the trick. I saw people who were laughing, heard people who were excited, and one woman who hit the jackpot at a slot machine. The energy was palpable. Next thing a knew I had a pair of dice in my hands and was about to throw them. Could I come through for the folks surrounded the table? I did…I rolled a seven, but the next roll was marked. I kept throwing until I won again. Unfortunately, I gave it all back at the slot machines, but sometimes just a change of pace is needed. I left the casino with a new perspective and energy, and this led to starting two new songs on the drive home. I’m not suggesting you go immediately to a casino ( because you might suffer big losses…everybody does ) but a new adventure might break your rut and lead to a fresh start on a new project that will change your life for the better.
